Rare, magical and full of wonder
Updated: Jul 19

When Lulu first came into rescue, she was just a tiny puppy with her front legs broken. What would normally be a straightforward surgery for most dogs wasn’t so simple for Lulu. Her bones were too small for standard plates, and her case became much more complex than anyone expected.
But Lulu had heroes on her side – her rescuer, and an incredible team of people who weren’t about to give up on her.
She was treated at the UC Davis Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Northern California, where a dedicated group of veterinarians stepped in to help. Lulu went through multiple surgeries, including an amazing procedure called BMP, which actually helps grow new bone. It was cutting-edge, it was complicated. It was hope.
Through it all, Lulu never lost her spark. She stayed sweet, a little sassy, and unbelievably happy. She just kept going, proving again and again that she was stronger than anyone imagined. People started calling her a “little unicorn,” because honestly, that’s what she felt like—rare, magical, and full of wonder.

Time for Lulu to give back
Veterinary care can be expensive, and many shelters and rescues struggle to cover those costs. That can leave animals without treatment—or worse. Because Lulu had so many people help her along the way, her journey inspired a mission to give back. That’s how the For the Love of Lulu Foundation came to life. 100% of proceeds goes directly toward veterinary care, whether it’s vaccines, spay/neuter procedures, dental work, or life-saving surgeries.
Sparkles, love and FUNraising
Raising funds is always a challenge for any non-profit, and it takes creativity and consistency. Lulu says, "No problem, we have DOGLATES!"

Yes, it’s as fun as it sounds!
By having rescue animals as the VIP guests at Dogalates events and activities, Lulu hopes to break the stigma that rescue and shelter animals are “broken” by highlighting their adaptability, adoptability, and the immense love they are waiting to give to their forever home. The pups (and sometimes kitties) always steal the show at these classes! www.dogalates.org
As part of the foundation’s community education and fundraising programming, Unicorn Fitness combines health and wellness with the human/animal bond through Stretch/Flexibility Classes, Mat Pilates/Somatic Stretch Fusion, Dance Fitness, Isometric & Cardio, Girl’s Nite/Goddess Workout.
Always share your Sparkle with someone who has lost theirs

A fan favorite! Lunicorn Lip Balm. It’s vegan, cruelty-free, and comes in fun flavors like spearmint and strawberry lemonade. But more importantly, every purchase helps fund veterinary care for animals who need it most. It’s a small thing that makes a big difference.
Be a Sparkle Maker, NOT a Sparkle Taker

Lunicorn programs are all about kindness, compassion, and teaching kids how to care for animals (and each other). They’re simple, meaningful, and designed so families can easily get involved.
ALWAYS remember your Sparkle
One of the most beloved programs is the Lunicorn Stuffie Rescue. It’s exactly what it sounds like—kids can adopt stuffed animals, each with their own little story and adoption certificate. It’s a fun way to introduce the idea of rescue and responsible pet care. Even better, if a child can’t keep their stuffie anymore, it can be returned and re-adopted—just like a real rescue. It’s all about love, second chances, and keeping those “stuffies” out of the landfill.

In addition to these popular programs, there are also creative fundraisers like pet art projects and the “Kindness is Cool” campaign, which celebrates kids doing thoughtful, positive things in their communities.
At the heart of all of this is one little dog, and her owner, who refused to give up, refused to lose their sparkle. Lulu’s journey is a reminder of what’s possible with compassion, teamwork, and a lot of love.
