They deserve to run. What we are allowing to happen to 'man's best friend' is not right, at all.

To responsible breeders.
To even the backyard breeders.
To rescues.
To trainers.
To shelters.
To every dog lover.
How do we end rescue and shelter overcrowding—for good?
Make decisions based on that answer, please.
Dogs are in a real bad spot and need our help!
Please take a deeper look at what is happening behind the scenes of the dog overpopulation crisis.
It is not normal.
Overcrowding is causing suffering. These are the same animals that work their way into our hearts and home.
Some live in crates 23.5+ hours a day.
They get zero enrichment
Sometimes no bed because anxiety issues
Some live on wire bottomed cages because they aren't potty trained
Some can only turn around and stretch
Some are older or more timid and the loud noise scares them and causes stress
Some are hyper and spin in their cage and hurt themselves
Some sit in soiled cages with other dogs, which is actually against a dogs nature, so that's cruel
AND GREAT dogs sit because of the bad stereotype on rescue dogs because they have to cope with everything listed! UNFAIR.
IT HAS BEEN PROVEN – RESCUES CAN NOT DO THIS ALONE.
There are not enough homes, resources, foster families, or space.
The responsibility of this crisis falls on overstressed and underpaid employees and NON-PAID volunteers with a passion to help animals with only enough resources to put a band-aid on the problem.
At the same time, backyard breeders and commercial sellers continue producing more litters for profit while thousands of dogs already alive wait for help.
'Ethical' breeders should be just as upset about the bad actors in their industry. And even though you are well Intentioned, your buyers might not be – and that responsibility matters! Instead of working together it's like rescue is treated as a dump for people trying make a quick buck!
How do we end rescue and shelter overcrowding—for good?
Make decisions based on that answer, please.
Bans on commercial breeding and backyard breeding operations, online sales ... until shelters are empty.
SERIOUS investment in spay and neuter programs, education, veterinary outreach... until shelters are empty.
Support for struggling communities and reservations dealing with severe overpopulation... until shelters are empty.
Whether rescuing or buying, knowing the pups environment and what your money is going towards matters. Rescues microchip, spay & neuter, pay for medical and care from animals abused and abandoned (boarding, food, treats) for your community's strays. All non-profits have annual reports, ask to see where your donation is going!
Then ask a breeder where their money is going – to make more dogs.
Live a Doodle? SAVE a Doodle! And end hybrid dog breeding ... until shelters are empty.
Help create a culture where dogs are valued as living beings, not products or accessories. Not everyone should have the privilege of owning a dog and they most certainly shouldn't go to just anyone for $0 adoption fee.
The crisis will not improve unless we address the source.
Dogs cannot speak for themselves. We must speak for them.
